The Sawtooth Jazz Orchestra (or Jazz Band) rehearses four days a week before school. The ensemble consists of 8th, 7th, and few lucky 6th grade students. Students can join the band by audition only. The jazz band is working towards learning jazz fundamentals by listening, rehearsing, and performing jazz standards. Students who participate in jazz band receive extra credit in the music classes they participate it. After auditioning, the only prerequisite is to be enrolled in an music class at Sawtooth, or to be currently taking private lessons. Although auditions may sound intimidating, I encourage you to audition if you are interested. |
